Our Treatment Policy
Contributing to improve the quality of life through oral health promotion.
Greetings from the Clinic Director
The dental care that we strive to offer is not based on conventional care but is dental care that aims to prevent post-treatment recurrence and, if the teeth are healthy, to maintain their healthy state.
We believe that if teeth can be kept healthy from a young age to avoid any tooth from decaying and if periodontal disease can be prevented in adulthood, then tooth loss can be prevented entirely. In Western countries, it is normal for people to visit a dental clinic regularly and receive professional care. In fact, approximately 80% of the populations in Western countries receive such care. Meanwhile, in Japan, unfortunately, only 2% of the population receives such regular checkups. Therefore, for example, the average number of dental caries in 12-year-old children in developed Western countries is one compared to two or three in Japan. At Kaneko Dental Clinic, we not only perform conventional treatment techniques with a high level of discernment and skill but also a dental hygienist is assigned to each patient to assist in reducing individual intraoral risk. Our aim is to offer an environment in which you can receive maintenance care with minimal pain in a comfortable, semi-private room and without long waiting times.
Procedures for Treatment at Our Clinic
We move onto the following procedures after completing treatment for urgent conditions such as pain or inability to chew.
Outpatient care facility certified by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare: qualified staff and equipment to respond to emergencies, medical accidents, and infections; adherence to strict sterilization standards; and affiliation with other healthcare institutions for smooth reference in cases requiring urgent care.
We check data such as pulse and blood pressure while administering treatment to manage the patient’s general physical condition.
Every effort will be made to prevent dental diseases, such as dental caries or periodontal disease, from interfering with the patient’s healthy lifestyle.
Intraoral photographs, X-ray images, probing (testing for periodontal disease), saliva testing (3,000 yen, including tax, because health insurance is not applicable for only saliva testing.) it is not mandatory.
*Saliva testing involves testing for the number of cariogenic (dental caries-causing) bacteria and saliva strength to determine whether the patient is prone to or resistant to dental caries.
- Explanation of the treatment plan
The patient is given an explanation of the results of their examination and consultation regarding the treatment plan.
- Oral hygiene advice from a dental hygienist
- Plaque removal and cleaning by a dental hygienist
A major cause of dental caries and periodontal disease is plaque buildup, i.e., accumulation of bacteria. As such, it is impossible to treat the underlying disease by simply performing restoration treatment for dental caries (drill, fill, and cover) or performing surgery for cases of periodontal disease. Treatments such as these are only symptomatic (temporary measures for the treatment of symptoms).
Therefore, at our clinic, we conduct treatment that prioritizes the removal of the underlying cause to avoid wasting time and money that the patient invests for treatment.
After completing emergency procedures, such as pain elimination, intraoral testing and tooth-brushing guidance will be given by a dental hygienist along with plaque and calculus removal. These procedures are necessary for oral health protection.
- Dental caries and periodontal disease treatment by a dentist
The best cutting-edge technology is selected to offer optimal oral treatment for each patient.
Providing support to patients who want to maintain their intraoral health for as long as possible is another type of treatment that we consider to be highly important. We offer regular brushing of teeth/lifestyle habit checks and intraoral cleaning.
We hope that you will take advantage of our clinic’s services.
Based on your level of intraoral risk, you will visit our clinic once every 1–6 months and undergo regular checkups and cleaning.
A treatment time of 45–60 min is typically required for each session for thorough periodontal disease treatment and regular checkup and cleaning by a dental hygienist to be completed.
We ask that you come to appointments on time and, if you are late or wish to cancel the appointment, please kindly contact us as early as possible.
